Despite Sapa constantly continuing to grow as a major tourist destination there are still precious few hotels of true quality to shout about. Inevitably this is set to change but it will take something truly special to outshine the wonderful charm and majestic setting of Topas Ecolodge.
Set on a ridge, approximately 18 kilometres from the centre of Sapa, overlooking the endless valleys strewn through this mountainous region, Topas Ecolodge features just 25 simple but stylish bungalows built of white granite and golden hardwood. The circular layout of the rooms around the ridge allows all rooms to be blessed with stunning views of the valleys below from their own private balcony.
The restaurant is an old traditional Tay stilt house, that was moved piece by piece from its original site and was lovingly reassembled at the lodge. It serves some of the finest local Vietnamese dishes all prepared by people from the surrounding villages.
However it is their continual endeavour to support the local environment that truly sets Topas Ecolodge apart from the rest, by identifying ways to minimize both waste of natural resources and pollution to the environment.
