Overview
If you’re tired of hearing the clichéd phrase ‘nothing is too much for us’ then you need to visit Tanah Gajah to re-invigorate your beliefs in exceptionally high standards. After a late arrival, a major ‘wow’ factor was revealed by the candlelit walkways that weave through the resort’s rice fields filled with traditional Balinese architecture. Named after the local village, Tanah Gajah which translates as ‘Elephant Land’, so there are many stone statues depicting elephants.
The Private Pool Villas (a heartily recommended upgrade) are more private estate than hotel room and are most stunning when morning reveals their setting amongst the working rice paddies (a truly glorious sunrise swim!). Your personal butler is assigned to your needs, be it providing standard hotel room service, or to merrily drive you around Ubud! The hotels owner (whose family stays in resort regularly) has extended the original buildings to create a hotel that has a real sense of privacy and space; there are no unnecessary intrusions, and you are assured of a resort of the utmost style and service.
