Overview
Dating back to 1901 the historical Sofitel Metropole Hanoi stands in the heart of the old quarter of Hanoi, a stones throw from Hoan Kiem Lake and a plethora of excellent restaurants, bars and local shops.
The hotel’s elegant colonial style has been rejuvenated following a recent refurbishment that has seen the 265 rooms restored to the original impeccable standards. It has in the past played host to the likes of Somerset Maugham, Charlie Chaplin and Hanoi Jane (a.k.a. Jane Fonda) while it’s said that Graham Greene wrote a sizeable portion of ‘The Quite American’ whilst frequenting ‘Le Club Bar’.
