Justifiably still considered to be one of Asia’s best kept secrets, Vietnam is rapidly throwing off the shackles of a turbulent history and starting to establish itself as a leading tourist destination. A relatively late starter in terms of the Asian tourist industry, Vietnam had the advantage of learning from some of the mistakes made by its more established neighbours. It has in recent years seen an influx of some of the most stunning and unique boutique hotels and luxury resorts in Asia.
Mention Vietnam and to many, it conjures up a country made famous by conflict, but this nation of contrasts offers a wonderfully rich history, spectacular scenery and possibly the friendliest people on the face of the planet.
From the expansive Mekong Delta in the south, to the historic towns and beach resorts in the central region of the country and on to the hill tribes of the north, Vietnam now offers an impressive array of destinations that continue to grow from strength to strength.
Now served via all of SE Asia’s major airline hubs (and with direct flights from London to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, with Vietnam Airlines, in the pipeline) Vietnam continues to become evermore accessible.
