With easy access to Phuket Airport, and stretches of long, sandy beaches Khao Lak is an antidote to the party bars and clubs of it’s more established neighbour. Long stretches of hawker-free sandy beaches back onto rubber plantations and small villages, and sunset strolls are a time of romantic solitude.

‘Entertainment’ in Khao Lak is geared toward the exploration of the national parks, forests, lagoons, waterfalls, or even venturing offshore to the world-renowned Similian or Surin Marine National Parks for diving, snorkelling or merely, beach picnics!

Post-tsunami Khao Lak has shown a resilient side, with a resurgence in tourism guided by respectful, controlled development. Our Khao Lak hotel, The Sarojin has led the way in rebuilding tourism confidence in the area to the extent that on our visit the hotel was completely full (and it wasn’t peak season). Plaudits and awards are frequently lavished on the hotel (including Asia’s Leading Boutique Hotel) in 2006, numerous Condé Nast awards, as well as the owners (Kate & Andrew Kemp) ongoing, and determined support for the region.
